..of Jan Wilsgaard, who left us just about one week ago.
Wilsgaard designed all the big Volvos between the 50's and the 90's.

Wow, the 140 series are really nice. So clean.

The 140 and the Amazon are his best designs in my opinion. I’m a bit biased though, since I own a 142.

Oh :( I didn’t hear that he’d passed. He was responsible for almost every Volvo that I love

I never knew one person designed all big Volvos between the 50's and the 90's, though now the continuity between the designs makes sense. He was a true legend seeing he designed all those legendary Volvos, it is too bad it is not widely known all of them were designed by him.

The note was in the local Swedish newspaper yesterday. Don’t think it has been reported in any other way (yet).

I see the Wilsgaards were quite keen on the letter J.
Jan, Jens, Johan, Jonas och John!

No wonder this one was looking as sad as it did yesterday...

Oh I think you're right. His Wikipedia page doesn't even say anything

I had no idea the same guy designed all those. He had a good eye!

Hvil i fred
His father was Norwegian, so, y’know you could kinda sorta say that Volvos are basically a 100% Norwegian.

Damn. A legend in my eyes. May he rest in peace.

Sometimes it’s little things.
Details like his genius solution to the rear door puzzle on the 850.

His designs were both distinctive and well proportioned.
He is sadly no longer with us, but his impact lives on to this day.

I feel like the V90 is the model most in the spirit of Wilsgaard in their current lineup.
Not like the outgoing V70 though - I really hope Volvo revives the really practical wagon with a new model.

Yep, I agree (I just found a better picture of the V60). But yeah, the V90 captures the original spirit better.
